Welcome to the Chubu Philippine Friendship Association!

The CPFA, formerly the Association of Intermarried Couples was established June 24, 1984 by Linda Taki with Fr. Toru Nishimoto, Chaplain of Japanese Tourists and Migrants in the Philippines. Fr. Nishimoto presided the first organizational meeting in 1981. From a few intermarried couples, CPFA's membership increased trememdously, and eventually came to include Japanese senior members and Filipino professionals.

OBJECTIVES
1. To provide mutual cooperation and assistance among the members in adjusting to the Japanese social environment.
2. To promote friendship with Japanese and other nationalities.
3. To provide an opportunity for members to get together to discuss matters of interest.
4. To promote good relations between CPFA and other international associations in Japan.

MEMBERSHIP
1. Membership is open to Filipinos, Japanese and other nationals who have a serious interest in the stated objectives of the CPFA and who actively participate in the affairs of the CPFA.
2. Members are contributing individuals and families approved by the Board.
3. Members carries the right to attend meetings and vote in the election of officers, and to receive, free of charge, the Newsletter and other occasional publications of the CPFA.

ANNUAL FEES
Annual membership fee shall be 1,000yen for each applicant.

ACTIVITIES
CPFA organizes annually two international friendship parties (Easter and Christmas season) and International Philippine Festival in Nagoya: and joins in various activities of the Nagoya International Center (NIC) and the Nagoya International Association (NIA). CPFA supports the scholarship program of Fr. Nishimoto (particularly educational fund to upgrade teaching equipment of science classrooms in Manila) and at the same time is engaged in a fund-raising drive (Philippine Disaster Aid Campaign) for the victims of the Luzon earthquake 1990, Mount Pinatubo Eruption 1991, Leyte Typhoon 1992, Mayon Volcano Eruption of 1993, China Airlines crash of 1994 and Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995. It also participates in the annual celebration of Family Day, and Independence celebration spearheaded by the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, the Philippine Consulate in Osaka, and the Philippine Department of Tourism in Osaka.
Now on its 18th year, CPFA continues to organize events wherein members of the international community can join and become familiar with our traditions and culture and for the Filipino people to rediscover our heritage.
